Latex-Safe Information

Dear Parents,

We are working towards a "Latex-Safe Environment" at Aplington-Parkersburg Schools. Latex allergies can be a life-threatening situation. We would appreciate your cooperation and attention as you purchase your school supplies.

Here are a few guidelines:

AVOID THESE ITEMS THAT CONTAIN LATEX:

• Pink Pearl erasers

• Triangle-shaped pencil grips

• Rubber cement

• Scented erasers (with a few exceptions)

• Cap erasers (except RoseArt and Sanford Colorific)

• "Off Brand" items (best to stick with brand names as the content can usually be confirmed one way or the other)

THESE ITEMS ARE ALL LATEX SAFE:

• ALL RoseArt products

• ALL Dixon-Ticonderoga products

• ALL Bic pencils with erasers and mechanical pencils with erasers sold in the United States.

• WASHABLE school glue and glue sticks from Elmer's, KidStix/American Glue Co. and RoseArt

• School Smart Erasers or plastic erasers

• Crayons from Binney and Smith (Crayola)

• MOST markers, colored pencils, highlighters, dry erase markers (all without grips)

• Most Sanford products (except Pink Pearl erasers) are safe.
